Cleveland, OH-Je'Shawn Stevenson was named the Horizon League Men's Basketball Freshman of the Week for the second consecutive week, the league office announced today. This is Stevenson's second league weekly award and the second for a men's basketball student-athlete this season.
Stevenson continued his strong play in Cleveland State's 103-37 win over Brescia on Saturday afternoon. He led the way with 17 points on 50 percent shooting from the field. Stevenson finished 3-for-7 from three-point range to tie for the team lead in made threes and led the way finishing a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
Stevenson continues a streak of three consecutive games scoring in double figures including setting a new career best with 20 points in last weekend's road win over Green Bay.
After a lighter week due to final exams, Stevenson and the Vikings will be in action twice this week. Oakland comes to town on Thursday night for the Horizon League home opener at the Wolstein Center, followed by the final non-conference matchup of the season against Midway on Sunday.
