Viking Sports Weekly {November 4}

Volleyball
-Cleveland State will host its final series inside Woodling Gymnasium this week, hosting Youngstown State on Friday, November 8 and Saturday, November 9.
-The Vikings enter the week with a 17-8 overall record, including an 8-6 mark in Horizon League play to sit third in the #HLVB standings.
-Saturday's match against the Penguins will serve as Senior Day, with the Vikings recognizing the quartet of Liberty Torres, Madison Olinger, Emma Walker, and Ella Mihacevich.

Men's Soccer
-Cleveland State will finish regular season play at home this week, hosting RMU on Tuesday, November 5.
-Last time out, the Vikings picked up a 4-1 win at Wright State, with Matteo Correia and Marko Rimac both recording two goals on the night.
-Matteo Correia currently ranks second among league players with nine goals on the year, while he ranks third with 20 total points.

Cross Country
-Cleveland State will have the week off from competition, returning to action at the NCAA Regionals on Friday, November 15.
-Last time out, the Vikings finished 10th at the Horizon League Championships, paced by Ana Crangle who earned All-League Second Team honors after finishing 14th with a 6K time of 22:13.
-Crangle is the first Viking to earn All-League honors since 2019.

Men's Basketball
-The Vikings will begin the 2024-25 season with a busy week, traveling to Michigan on Monday, November 4, hosting Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday, November 6 and traveling to Kansas State on Saturday, November 9.
-Last time out, Cleveland State picked up an 84-49 victory over Lourdes in an exhibition contest.
-The 2024-25 campaign will mark the third under head coach Daniyal Robinson.

Women's Basketball
-Cleveland State will officially kick off the 2024-25 campaign with two road games this week, traveling to No. 14 Ohio State on Tuesday, November 5 and Chicago State on Saturday, November 9.
-Last month, the Vikings were selected as the preseason favorite in the Horizon League, while Destiny Leo, Colbi Maples and Mickayla Perdue were all named Preseason First Team.
-The 2024-25 team features nine returning letterwinners, while Chris Kielsmeier will begin his seventh season as head coach.

Wrestling
-Cleveland State will open the 2024-25 season on Sunday, November 10, taking part in the Bob Del Rosa Open hosted by Case Western Reserve.
-Daniel Bucknavich was picked as the MAC Preseason favorite to win the 285-pound championship and return to the NCAA Championships for a second straight season.

Fencing
-The Vikings will be back in action this week, taking part in the Vassar Invitational on Sunday, November 10.
-This will be the second event of the season for the Vikings, and the first since late September.

Swimming & Diving
-The Vikings will take a couple weeks off from competition, returning to the pool for the annual three-day Magnus Cup event later this month.
-Both teams are coming off victories at Youngstown State with the men winning 161-139 and the women coming out victorious 164-135.
-James Wolf won both diving events with NCAA Zone Cuts of 321.23 on 3M and 308.18 on 1M.
-In the pool, Jackson Nester won all three of his individual races (1000 Free, 200 Back, 400 IM), while Grace Chelf picked up a pair of wins (50 Free, 100 Free).

Women's Tennis
-Cleveland State will close out the fall campaign at the ITA Conference Masters this week, with the duo of Oihane Vicario and Sima Heren appearing in the doubles draw beginning on Thursday, November 7.
-The duo earned their way into the tournament after winning the doubles title at the inaugural Horizon League Individual Championship last month.
-Last time out, the Vikings participated in the Rocket Indoor Invite with Oihane Vicario and Tereze Vevere both going 3-0 in singles and Vicario and Sima Heren going 3-0 in doubles.

Viking Of The Week
Grace Chelf, Women's Swim & Dive
Won two individual races at Youngstown State – 50 Free & 100 Free – while also being part of both winning relays against the Penguins.
Ana Crangle, Cross Country
Paced the Vikings at the #HLXC Championships, finishing 14th with a 6K time of 22:13 to earn Second Team honors.
Marko Rimac, Men's Soccer
Helped the Vikings to a 4-1 win at Wright State, scoring two goals on the night including the game-winner.
James Wolf, Men's Swim & Dive
Qualified for both diving events at NCAA Zones after winning the 1M (308.18) and 3M (321.23) events at Youngstown State.
