CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's basketball team opened its 2024-25 home slate Tuesday, earning a 75-68 victory over Bowling Green to extend its home win streak to 24 straight games. With the win, the Vikings now stand at 2-1 on the young season.

The Game
After trailing by 10 at the halftime break at 42-32, the Vikings were able to open the third quarter with five straight points, closing the gap to 42-37 on a
Sara Guerreiro steal and layup just over two minutes into the frame. Although the Falcons were able to stop the scoring run on the ensuing possession, the Vikings responded with a
Jordana Reisma layup and
Destiny Leo three-pointer, coming within two points at 44-42 with 6:13 left in the quarter.
Bowling Green was able to once again extend its lead to 46-42 on the next trip down the floor, but another Leo three-pointer pulled the Vikings within one at 46-45, while a pair of
Colbi Maples layups gave the Vikings their first lead of the game at 49-46 with 3:34 left in the frame.
The two teams then traded baskets over the final minutes of the third quarter, with Cleveland State taking a 49-46 lead into the fourth quarter.
The Vikings opened the final frame on a 6-2 run, extending their lead to 62-55 on a Guerreiro layup at the 5:36 mark. Despite Bowling Green closing the gap to 62-59 over the next few plays, Cleveland State responded with six straight points, regaining a 68-59 lead on a
Mickayla Perdue three-pointer with just over one minute left to play.
The Vikings then controlled play over the final stretch, including a 7-for-8 effort from the free throw line, coming away with the 75-68 victory.
