DAYTON, Ohio – Cleveland State (6-6-3, 3-4-1) returned to .500 on the year and remained in the Horizon League tournament hunt after defeating Wright State (6-9-2, 2-5-1) 4-1 on Friday evening.
The Green and White started the scoring in the 19th minute as
Matteo Correia finished off a pass from
Bojan Kolevski. However, Wright State drew even in the 31st minute as Cole Wrthmuller found the back of the net off a pass from Pete Schneider.
Five minutes later, Cleveland State climbed back on top behind an unassisted goal from
Marko Rimac. The scoreline remained 2-1 in favor of CSU at the intermission.
In the 71st minute, Correia netted his second of the game off a pass from
RC Schmeider to lead 3-1. Nine minutes later, M. Rimac notched his second of the game off an assist from
Adrian Bravo-Sanchez to win 4-1.
Cleveland State was narrowly outshot 13-12 and 6-5 in shots on goal. M. Rimac led the way with four shots including three on frame.
Ryan Poling picked up the win in goal after making five saves.
The Vikings return home on Tuesday, November 5 to conclude the regular season against Robert Morris at 2 p.m.
