Cleveland State Volleyball Travels To IU Indy For Weekend Series

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State volleyball team will close out its current five-match roadswing this weekend, traveling to IU Indy for a pair of matches on Friday, November 1 and Saturday, November 2.
 
Entering this weekend's series the Vikings stand at 17-6 overall and 8-4 in Horizon League play to sit tied for third in the #HLVB standings.
 
IU Indy currently stands at 10-15 on the year and 4-8 in league play, sitting tied for seventh heading into this weekend's matchups.
 
Last time out, senior libero Emma Walker became the all-time digs leader at Cleveland State, finishing Tuesday night's match at Oakland with 1,566 career digs. Walker, who ranks second among league players averaging 5.15 digs per set, is one of just two Vikings all-time to surpass the 1,500-dig mark. So far this year, Walker has tallied 443 total digs, including 11 20-dig performances.
 
Cleveland State has been one of the best defensive teams in the league this season, leading the #HLVB standings in blocks (2.27/set) and digs (17.20/set). Last time out, the Vikings combined for 13.0 total team blocks in the win at Oakland, marking their ninth double-digit blocking performance of the year.
 
Offensively, the Vikings have been led by the duo of Liberty Torres and Nia Hall, who have combined for 53-percent of Cleveland State's kills so far this season. Torres currently ranks third among league players averaging 3.86 kills per set, while Hall is averaging 3.16 to rank ninth in the league standings. Both Torres and Hall have been recognized by the Horizon League this year, most recently Hall who was named the #HLVB Player of the Week on Monday.
 
Graduate transfer Ella Mihacevich has been the captain of the Viking offense this season, ranking second in the league averaging 9.90 assists per set, and helping CSU to a .213 hitting percentage on the year which ranks third among #HLVB teams. In addition, Mihacevich has also combined for 100+ kills and 200+ digs.
 
Next up for Cleveland State will be its final home series of the 2024 season, with the Vikings set to host Youngstown State on Friday, November 8 and Saturday, November 9.
