CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State (0-13-1, 0-7-0) dropped a 2-1 Horizon League game to Detroit (7-6-2, 5-0-2) on Sunday afternoon. The contest also served as the annual Alumnae game, with several players honored at halftime.

The Titans got the scoring started in the ninth minute as Abbey Lodato converted off a long through ball from Hailey Matthews. Four minutes later, Mayra Sesmas tied the game with her fourth of the year off a through ball from Sophia Cucchetti.

The game remained deadlocked at the intermission, with the visitors holding a 6-4 advantage in shots.

Detroit netted the game-winner in the 62nd minute behind Lodato's second of the game as the Vikings fell at home, 2-1.

Cleveland State was outshot 10-7 but held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Eleanor Simkonis and Sesmas each finished with two shots. Elyse Broderick tallied three saves in goal.

The Vikings head to Youngstown State on Thursday, Oct. 17 for a 6 p.m. contest.
