RICHMOND, Kentucky - The Cleveland State women's golf team finished the first day of the Colonel Classic in 12th place, of 14 teams, only five strokes behind Dayton at the 11 spot.

Cleveland State shot 311-304, 615 (+39) through the first two rounds.
The Green and White were led by senior Kaylee Neumeister, who is currently in the top-20, tied for 16th place. Neumeister ended the first day of the two-day tournament +4 (75-73, 148). The senior, who notched birdies twice on Monday, is having another strong outing after finishing in 12th place in the team's opening tournament last week.
Ashley Knight sits tied for 43rd place shooting, 77-78, 155 (+12). Knight notched three birdies on the day, all in the final round.
Rounding the leaderboard out for the Vikings are Madison Butler (79-77, 156) and Lexi Knight (80-76, 156) who are tied for 50th. The sophomore Knight saw a four-stroke improvement from the first round to the second, finishing the last 18 holes +4.
