Butler Finishes Fourth; Earns All-Tournament Honors at Horizon League Championship

TOURNAMENT RECAP

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. -- Madison Butler carded a one-over par 74 on the final day of the 2019 Horizon League Championship on Tuesday at the Las Colinas Course and finished fourth overall to earn all-tournament honors.

Butler had four birdies during her round over the par-73, 6,087-yard layout at Las Colinas to finish fourth overall. She had rounds of 75-80-74 to post a 54-hole score of 229. Maddie Zack of Oakland captured medalist honors with a 227, while Katlyn Shutt of Youngstown State and Marion DeBove of IUPUI each finished with a 228 to tie for second.

Butler, who finished sixth at last year's championship, recorded the seventh-best Horizon League finish in Cleveland State history. Kristen Obush (2004), Mallory Wyderka (2009) and Rayna Oosterhuis (2017) each posted a second-place finish in the Horizon League Tournament, while Wyderka (2008), Ariel Sparrow (2011) and Allyson Hackman (2016) each earned a third-place finish. Butler joins Hackman (2014) as Vikings to finish fourth in the Horizon League Championship.

Led by Butler, Cleveland State finished third in the team standings with a score of 952. IUPUI won the team title with a score of 930, while Oakland was second with a score of 943.

Ashley Knight narrowly missed earning all-tournament honors as she finished eighth overall after shooting an 81 on the final day. Knight shot rounds of 76-79-81 to earn her eighth-place showing.

Kaylee Neumeister bounced back after an opening-round 86. She shot an 80 in the second round and posted a two-over par 75 on the final day to finish tied for 13th overall with a score of 241.

Meg Rossouw tied for 27th overall and Grace Zimmerman was 37th in the individual standings. Rossouw shot an 84 on the final day, while Zimmerman closed with a 90.
