Friday's victory gave Cleveland State a 5-0 start to league play, tying the best start in league play in program history (2015). The Vikings are the only remaining undefeated team in the Horizon League, as they stand at the top of the league standings after Friday's match.

Emily DeGeorge led the Viking offense with 12 kills, while Trinniti Hall added nine and Hannah Greene posted seven. Christina Grecol finished the match with 34 assists on Cleveland State's 42 total kills.

Four Vikings finished the match with double-digit digs, led by Rachael Dohar with 21 digs. DeGeorge tallied 19 digs on the match for her fourth double-double of the year, while Jordan Verbiak added 16 and MacKenzie Conner notched 13.

As a team, the Vikings recorded 13 total blocks, with eight from Hall and seven from Rachel Stover.

During the opening set, the Vikings had to battle back from an early deficit, tying the set at 13-13 following four straight Viking blocks – all of which Hall was a part of. The Vikings were then able to swing the momentum over the next few plays, gaining control of the match and finishing with the 25-22 set victory.

The second frame was just the opposite then, as the Vikings were able to get out to the early lead at the 10-2 mark, and then went on to hold the advantage for the rest of the set. Despite a late push from the Jaguars, the Vikings were able to hold strong at the end of the frame, coming away with the 25-20 victory on yet another Cleveland State block.

During the third set the Vikings had to once again battle from behind, as they were eventually able to tie the set at 17-17 following a Grecol kill. The Vikings then went on to post six of the next seven points to gain a 23-18 lead, and went on to earn the 25-23 set victory on a DeGeorge kill.
