Vikings Move Up One Spot to Finish Fifth at Cardinal Challenge

BEAUMONT, Texas - Cleveland State shot a final round 317 and moved up one spot to finish tied for fifth place at the Cardinal Classic that concluded on Sunday at the par-71, 6,008-yard Beaumont CC.

Junior Sophie Kelner posted the low round of the day for the Vikings with a 78 and tied for 17th place overall with a 54 hole total of 237 (81-78-78). Freshman Ellie Cronin was CSU's top finisher with a 236 total, carding rounds of 81-75-80.

Junior Emily Turski also tied for 17th place with a 237 total (77-80-80), while freshman Kaylee Neumeister tied for 25th place with rounds of 84-77-79 (240). Sophomore Rayna Oosterhuis placed 29th overall (79-79-84 - 242).

Host Lamar captured the team title with an 897 total, while Bradley was the runner-up at 922. Southern Illinois finished third at 924, while Fairleigh Dickinson was fourth with a 937 total. CSU and UT-Rio Grande Valley tied for fifth at 944, while Indiana State (945), Detroit Mercy (977) and Prairie View A&M (1,149) rounded out the field.

The Vikings are back in action at the EKU Colonel Classic which takes place on March 31-April 1 in Richmond, Ky., at the University Club at Arlington.
