Last Time Out
The Vikings got in the win column for the first time this season last weekend, picking up back-to-back 4-3 victories at Northern Illinois and Butler. Both matches were tied at 3-3 going into the final singles match, with Mathilde Orange clinching the match against Northern Illinois and Jana Schober doing so against Butler. With the two wins, Cleveland State is now 2-3 on the young season.
Orange Closing In On 50 Wins
After picking up a win at No. 2 singles at Northern Illinois last weekend, Mathilde Orange enters the weekend just four wins shy of notching the 50th singles victory of her career. Orange, who currently has 46 singles wins, would become the 12th Viking all-time to record 50 career singles victories.
Spindler & Golawska Go 2-0 In Singles
Last weekend, freshman Isabella Spindler and sophomore Aleksandra Golawska both went 2-0 in singles play to lead the Vikings against Northern Illinois and Butler. Spindler, who has a team-high 4-1 record this spring, picked up her wins at No. 4 singles against NIU and No. 3 singles against Butler, while Golawska posted both of her wins at the No. 5 spot.
Vikings Pick Up The Doubles Point
The Vikings have been able to get on the board early in the last three matches, picking up the doubles point against West Virginia, Northern Illinois, and Butler. The CSU doubles teams of Princess Gbadamosi/Mathilde Orange and Victoria Bensimon/Morgan Nix have a team-best 3-2 record this spring, while the duo of Isabella Spindler/Aleksandra Golawska stands at 2-2.
Cleveland State's New Domicile
Later this spring the Vikings will be playing in a new indoor home, as construction is continuing on the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion. The MMTP will be located on the Cleveland State campus at the corner of East 21st Street and Chester Avenue and will feature six indoor courts.
