CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State men's basketball head coach Gary Waters has announced the signing of Jibri Blount (Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary) and Robert Edwards (Detroit Cass Tech) to National Letters of Intent to attend CSU and play basketball beginning in the fall of 2015.

Blount, a 6-foot-6 forward, averaged 12.0 points and 8.0 rebounds last year at Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary, his first season for the Irish after transferring from Linsly, a high school in West Virginia. Blount started immediately in the frontcourt, helping SVSM to 19 wins and a spot in the state semifinals. Blount is the son of former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back and NFL Hall of Famer, Mel Blount.

"Jibri is an outstanding athlete and person," Waters said. "His ability to perform at the Division I level truly matches his ability on the basketball floor. Jibri is an excellent rebounder and defender with the potential to be a great scorer at this level."

A 6-foot-2 combo-guard, Edwards is ranked as a top-five guard in Michigan. He helped Cass Tech to a Class A District title last season, scoring 19 points in the district championship game. Edwards is the third student-athlete from Cass Tech to join the Vikings in the last four seasons, joining current CSU senior Marlin Mason and freshman Kenny Carpenter.

"In my estimation, Rob is one of the better guards in the entire Midwest," Waters said. "He has outstanding athleticism and his ability to score and create opportunities for others will be a tremendous attribute for Cleveland State."

The Vikings plan to sign one or two more student-athletes.

CSU opens the 2014-15 season when the Vikings travel to Iona for a 7:00 p.m. contest on Friday (Nov. 14) night. The home opener is on Monday (Nov. 17) at 7:00 p.m. versus Tiffin.
