CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State volleyball team suffered its first Horizon League loss of the season Friday evening, falling in straight sets to the Loyola Ramblers. The Vikings are now 10-6 on the season and 2-1 in league play, while the Ramblers improve to a matching record.
Set scores against Loyola were 25-14, 25-19, 25-21.
Kara Koch, who led the Viking offense with 10 kills against the Ramblers, now ranks third all-time at Cleveland State with 1,355 career kills. Koch moved ahead of Beth Greulich (2006-09), who previously ranked third with 1,351 kills. Koch is now 62 kills shy of moving into second place on the all-time records list.
Jackie Dabbelt added nine kills for the Vikings, while Marie Frease notched eight. Koch and Amanda Medvetz each had nine digs against Loyola, while Koch added three blocks and Maggie Hannon tallied two.
Anna Eytchison led the Ramblers with 20 kills on the match, with Kathleen Vogel adding 10.
Cleveland State will continue league play tomorrow (Saturday, Sept. 29), hosting the UIC Flames at 4:00 p.m.
