Day One Results 
VERONA, N.Y. - Cleveland State shot an opening round 305 and took 12 shots off in the afternoon round for a 293 to move into eighth place of 13 teams after the opening day of the Turning Stone Invitational.
The 54-hole event is being hosted by Missouri at the par-72, 7,105-yard Kaluhyat Course at the Turning Stone Resort.
"We didn't get off to the best start in the morning round, but I was happy with the way we battled back to post a solid number and move up two spots in the afternoon round," head coach Steve Weir said. "The course is in great shape and there are scoring opportunities out there and I'm excited to get the guys back out there tomorrow and see what we can do."
Junior Andrew Bailey, the reigning Horizon League Player of the Year, opened the day with a two-under par 70 and followed it with a 73. He is tied for seventh place overall at 143, just two shots out of second place heading into the final round.
Jon Riemer is tied for 18th place as he followed his opening round 76 with a two-under-par 70 (146).
Playing as an individual, Michael Balcar carded rounds of 74-71 (145) and is tied for 12th place.
Jace Long of Missouri carded back-to-back rounds of 66 and is at 12-under par (132) for a nine shot lead going into the final round.
Missouri also holds the team lead with a 36-hole total of 559. The Tigers are followed by Louisville, (568), Memphis (577), Central Connecticut State (584), IPFW (593), Villanova (594), Army (596), Cleveland State (598), Canisius (602), Loyola (603), Cincinnati and St. Peter's (613) and Delaware (618).
"There are a bunch of teams right around us and if we can go out tomorrow and put up another good number, I think we will have a chance to move up a couple more spots," Weir said.
The final round will be played on Monday morning at 7:30 a.m.
