BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Cleveland State volleyball team split its matches on day two of the Indiana Invitational, posting a 3-0 victory over Bowling Green and falling to Georgia Tech in three sets. The Vikings are now 5-2 on the season.

Set scores against Georgia Tech were 14-25, 20-25, 20-25.

Set scores against Bowling Green were 25-17, 25-22, 25-13.

Kara Koch was named to the All-Tournament Team, following a 47-kill weekend. Koch averaged 4.70 kills per set on the weekend and recorded a .349 hitting percentage.

Kara Koch led the Viking offense against Bowling Green, recording her third 20-kill match of the season. Kerry Winchester also tallied double-digit kills for CSU, notching 10. Amanda Medvetz and Brittany Holland led the defense against the Falcons, recording 12 and 13 digs, respectively. Koch and Marie Frease each tallied four blocks for the Vikings, while Annie Djukicnotched 28 assists.

During the opening set against the Falcons the Vikings got out to an early 8-4 lead off of three straight Maggie Hannon service aces, and held at least a three-point lead for the rest of the set. Bowling Green attempted to make a comeback at the end of the frame, but two Falcon errors and a block from Marie Frease and Annie Djukic clinched the 25-17 victory for CSU.

The Vikings got out to another early lead during the second frame at 11-4 behind kills from Kara Koch and Hannon and a block assist from Koch and Hannon. CSU held a four-point lead at the 22-18 mark, but Bowling Green posted three straight points to close the gap to 22-21. That would be as close as the Falcons would get though, as Koch and Winchester posted kills to close out the frame.

The third set was much of the same, with the Vikings getting out to a 10-4 lead off of four straight points, including two Koch kills and a Djukic service ace. CSU held at least a five-point lead for the rest of the frame, including a 12-point advantage to close the set.

Against Georgia Tech, Koch led the Vikings with 13 kills, while Jackie Dabbelt added six. Amanda Medvetz recorded nine digs for CSU, while Djukic notched 24 assists.

The Vikings will play in Woodling Gymnasium for the first time this season on Tuesday (Sept. 4) as they host Pittsburgh in a 7:00 p.m. contest.
