HUNTINGTON, W. Va. - Cleveland State won its fourth straight match to open the season and remained perfect with a 3-1 win over High Point to open the Thundering Herd Tourney on Friday evening.

Match scores were 25-16, 23-25, 25-12, 25-21.

High Point fell to 2-3 this season.

Amy Benz and Kara Koch led the Vikings with 14 kills apiece, while Jackie Dabbelt added 10 kills. Jordan Goad handed out 51 assists, while leading the Vikings to a .281 attack percentage for the match.

Amy Grabiec made 24 digs, while Amanda Medvetz contributed 16 digs and Brittany Holland eight.

"I thought we did some nice things tonight," head coach Chuck Voss said. "We had a little slip up in the second set, but I was happy to see the way we rebounded to close the match out."

CSU stormed out to a 1-0 lead by hitting .370 (12-2-27) in the first set, while also holding High Point to a .000 attack percentage (9-9-39). High Point bounced back to take the second set, making just one attack error in 31 attempts to even the match.

However, the Vikings rebounded for an easy win in set three and closed out the match by winning the fourth set.

The Vikings conclude play at Marshall on Saturday with two matches. CSU plays Hofstra at 10:30 a.m. and host Marshall at 7:30 p.m.
