CLEVELAND, Ohio - Natalie Daniels scored a goal on a penalty kick and added an assist and Sylvia Olsby scored a goal as the Vikings knocked off Missouri-Kansas City, 2-0, on Friday night at Krenzler Field.

The Vikings improved to 3-0-1 this season, continuing the best start in school history, while UMKC fell to 0-3-.

After a scoreless first half in which the Vikings had plenty of scoring chances, Daniels gave CSU a 1-0 lead with a penalty kick at the 62:38 mark following a UMKC handball inside the box.

It was just the second penalty kick in school history.

The goal also moved Daniels into a tie in the CSU record books for career goals with 12.

Olsby added the Vikings second tally at the 75:13 mark when she beat the goalkeeper on a breakaway after Daniels played the ball forward.

"It's nice to get another win, but we have to get better at finishing with our front six players," head coach Derrek Falor said. "We had a lot of great scoring chances in the first half and I thought we could have put some distance between us, but just didn't finish. That is something we'll have to get better at."

Kelly Zinkewich made one save for the Vikings as she posted her second shutout of the season.

The Vikings outshot UMKC, 17-4, including a 13-1 advantage in shots on goal.

CSU concludes its season opening five-match homestand on Sunday (Sept. 5) when the Vikings host Canisius at 12:00 p.m. at Krenzler Field.
