HUNTINGTON, W. Va. - The Cleveland State golf team opened the Marshall Invitational with rounds of 289 and 290 and is in 14th place after the first day of competition at the par-71, 6,534-yard Guyan Golf and Country Club.

"We just didn't get anything going today," head coach Steve Weir said. "There were some chances to score today, but we couldn't make any putts. We hit the practice green after the second round and hopefully we'll be able to straighten some things out tomorrow and move up a few spots."

Senior Kent Monas is tied for 13th place overall after rounds of 70-69 (139) to lead the Vikings.

The final 18 holes are scheduled for Tuesday morning.
