CHARDON, Ohio - Cleveland State senior Jake Scott shot rounds of 70-68 for a six-under-par 138 and holds a one shot lead after the first two rounds of the CSU-Telich Sun Life Financial Invitational on Monday at the par-72, 7,215-yard Sand Ridge G.C.

Scott's finish helped the Vikings shoot a two-round total of 579 (296-283) and put CSU just two shots behind co-leaders South Dakota State (287-290) and Longwood (292-285) who are tied at 577.

CSU sophomore Kellen Erdman provided CSU with the biggest highlight of the day, recording a hole-in-one on the par-3, 177-yard 12th hole. He wound up with a 74 in the opening round and followed it with a 76 and is tied for 32nd at 150.

"I was standing on the 13th tee and looked back to watch Kellen hit off the 12th tee," head coach Steve Weir said. "His shot looked really good coming in and went in. It was a great shot.

"Overall, I thought we played great today, especially in the second round. We made up seven shots from the first round and put ourselves in position to make a run tomorrow. We have to keep our mental focus tomorrow and come out, keep it in play and make some putts."

Sophomore Kent Monas is in 13th place, following rounds of 76-69 (145), while junior Patrick Elber is tied for 28th. He shot 73-76 (149).

South Dakota State's Trent Peterson opened with a 67 and had a 72 in the second round and is one shot behind Scott at 139.

The final round is slated to begin at 8:00 a.m. with tee times off the first and 10th holes. CSU's first tee time will be at 9:26 a.m. on hole one.
