FRANKLIN, Pa. - Cleveland State recorded its second straight round of 307 on Monday and is in eighth place out of 12 teams after two rounds at the Penn State Rutherford Intercollegiate.

The three-day, 54-hole event is being played at the par-72, 7,269-yard Nemacolin Wood G.C.

"We just cannot make any putts," head coach Steve Weir said. "It's been hard to figure out the speed of the greens, but we don't want to use that as an excuse. We're going to work on that a little bit and come back tomorrow and try to jump ahead of a few teams."

Kyle Cobb shot CSU's lowest round of the day (75) and is tied for 34th overall with a group that includes CSU's Patrick Elber (75-79).

Senior Jake Scott is tied for 26th place and is the Vikings top golfer through two rounds. He is one shot ahead of both Cobb and Elber after rounds of 76-77 (153).

The Vikings are in eighth place overall with a two-round total of 614, but are just one shot behind seventh place Marshall (613) and two shots back of sixth place Bowling Green (612).

Purdue leads the event with rounds of 298-288 (586), holding an eight-shot advantage over second place Miami (Ohio), which has carded rounds of 289-305 (594).

Penn State and Virginia Commonwealth are third place (597), while Missouri (600) rounds out the top five.

The tournament will conclude on Tuesday (Sept. 2) with the final 18 holes.
