CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State had four players in double-digit kills and earned its second straight league win with a 3-1 triumph over Green Bay on Saturday afternoon in Woolding Gym.

Match scores were 25-22, 16-25, 25-21, 25-13.

The Vikings improved to 4-12 overall and got themselves right back into the mix in the conference at 3-4. Green Bay slipped to 8-9 and 3-4 in league play.

"This was a big win for us today," head coach Chuck Voss said. "We really challenged them after the first set and they really responded well. They showed a lot of mental toughness and we are starting to play the way that we are capable of. And I thought Jenni came in and did a great job for us."

Senior Jenni Ramminger finished with 10 kills, but played only the final two sets. She hit .562, committing just one error in 16 attempts.

Junior Kayla Lefeld had her second straight double-double and third in the last four matches with 12 kills and 13 digs, while Beth Greulich and Amy Benz had 11 kills each. Jordan Bateman tallied a match-best 26 digs and Maggie Bonomini had 20, while Jordan Goad totaled 46 assists and eight digs.

The Vikings jumped out to a 11-4 lead in the first set and never trailed. Things were much different in the second set as the Phoenix broke open a 3-2 lead by scoring 11 of the next 13 points to take a 14-4 lead to even up the match at one set apiece.

The third set was much closer throughout, featuring 11 ties and four lead changes, the final one coming when a Benz kill evened the set at 16-16. From there, CSU went on a 5-1 run to assume a 21-17 lead enroute to winning the set and taking a 2-1 lead.

CSU made quick work of the Phoenix in set four, making sure that the match would not be extended. Holding a slim 11-9 lead in the fourth set with Green Bay serving, CSU retained possession on a Benz kill for a 12-9 lead and Jordan Bateman served the Vikings to eight straight points and a 20-9 lead.

CSU hit .385 (16-1-39) in the final set, while holding Green Bay to a .044 (9-7-45) hitting percentage.

The Vikings finished with more kills (54-48), assists (54-45), digs (77-70), aces (9-2) and blocks (14-4) than Green Bay.

CSU will return to action on Sunday afternoon when the Vikings host Milwaukee beginning at 2:00 p.m. in Woodling Gym.
