CLEVELAND, OH - Annie Thomas, a four-year letterwinner at Wisconsin, has been named an assistant women's basketball coach at Cleveland State. Head coach Kate Peterson Abiad made the announcement on Friday.
Thomas will work with the posts, assist with recruiting and be in charge of the Vikings' community service efforts and academics.
"Annie has a very refreshing perspective and brings with her a great deal of enthusiasm and a genuine desire to make a difference," Peterson Abiad said. "She will be a tremendous resource for the players because she has played at such a high level. Annie has a lot to offer in the coaching profession."
Thomas lettered from 2002-06 at Wisconsin and served as team captain during her senior season when she averaged 4.1 rebounds per game. As a junior, Thomas led the Badgers in rebounding (6.8 rpg) and averaged 5.9 points per game as she started 24 of the 28 games she appeared in.
A 2007 graduate of Wisconsin with degrees in Applied Economics and Life Science Communications, Thomas was a three-time Academic All-Big 10 selection. She graduated with a 3.1 grade point average.
Last year, Thomas served as the radio color analyst for Wisconsin women's basketball home games.
