Final Stats

INDIANAPOLIS - Cleveland State ended a dozen years of futility in Hinkle Fieldhouse, sweeping Butler, 30-23, 30-20, 30-25, on Friday night. Winless in 12 previous trips to Indianapolis, the Vikings picked up their 11th three-game victory of the season to improve to 13-4 overall and 3-2 in the Horizon League, while the Bulldogs fell to 5-13, 0-4.

Freshman Beth Greulich matched her career-high with 14 kills on .423 hitting, while sophomore Jenni Ramminger notched a career-best 13 kills on .550 hitting with four blocks. Junior Mel Snyder tallied 43 assists, seven kills and four digs and sophomore Jordan Bateman led all players with 16 digs.

Porshia Allen paced Butler with 14 kills, 10 digs and three blocks, while Krystal Hendrix added nine kills, six digs and six blocks.

"It's great to finally get a win here -- Hinkle has always been a tough place for us to play," CSU head coach Chuck Voss said. "I thought our passing was pretty good overall and our defense was very solid. Mel did a real nice job of getting Beth and Jenni the ball in places where they could be successful."

The Vikings rarely trailed in the match, out-hitting the Bulldogs .256 to .125, including a .600 effort (21-3-30) in the second game. CSU also enjoyed a 53 to 41 advantage in digs.

Cleveland State is in action again on Saturday (Oct. 7) when the Vikings travel to Wright State for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
