Post Game Quotes
Cleveland State Head Coach Mike Garland: "There is no question that this is a very disappointing and discouraging loss, but within the loss, I saw some things that I really want to do with this basketball team. We really pushed the ball, got the ball down there and had some good shots on them. We just had a stretch were we went away from doing what we needed to do in terms of getting back in transition."
"In the second half, we came out of the locker room and had several opportunities to get some scores but we didn't successfully do that. When we didn't get those scores, I thought we pressed a little bit. We had some opportunities to score from the line that we didn't get at that point and that hurt us. Coming out of the locker room in that first five minutes, we just could not seem to get these things going. We got the ball into the post but we just didn't score on them."
"They did a pretty good job of making it tough for us to score. We just have to find someone who can step up when we are having problems."
"It was great to see Luke Murphy step up, that was a bright spot. It was probably the best collegiate game of his career and I think that he is going to gain a ton of confidence from this."
"I'm very concerned with our rebounding totals. I thought we did a better job on the defensive glass. A few times, they got in there on us, but we were not in there on the offensive glass the way that we need to be."
Cleveland State forward Patrick Tatham: "There was a stretch in the first half where we just stopped doing what we did that got us the lead at the start of the game. That was the main factor in the game."
Cleveland State forward Luke Murphy: "There were times when they cut off our fast break and fast break is what we usually do. Instead of slowing down and running a set, we started taking quick shots. That was a time where we either go for the kill or just try and keep our lead and we went for the kill and it just didn't work."
Albany Head Coach Will Brown: "I thought we got off to a good start tonight and then Cleveland State went on a run that really got us back on our heels. But I am happy with how we responded with a run of our own going into halftime. We felt if we didn't give them baskets in transition and kept them off the offensive glass and made them play in the half court that we could be successful. And I think we did that in the second half."
On Cleveland State guard Carlos English: "I don't think I've seen a kid that quick, ever. That kid just had a rocket attached to his back."
