CHICAGO (AP) - Cedrick Banks scored 21 points and Martell Bailey added 16 points and eight assists in a reserve role as Illinois-Chicago beat Cleveland State 69-63 on Thursday at UIC Pavilion.
Illinois-Chicago (9-4, 3-1 Horizon) led by as many as 14 in the second half but saw its lead disappear when Cleveland State tied it at 57 with 4:25 left on a 3-pointer by Modibo Niakate.
However, the Flames scored the game's next six points and Cleveland State (7-10, 2-3) didn't get any closer.
Jonathan Burge led Cleveland State with 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting for the third-best scoring effort by a Viking this season. Niakate added 17 points.
The Vikes outrebounded UIC 40-35 as Tahric Gosley and Andre' Williams pulled down seven boards each. The Flames entered the game as the league's top rebounding squad with a +8.0 margin on the boards.
The win snapped the Flames' five-game losing streak to Cleveland State.
