Cleveland State didn't contain IUPUI's sizzling offense Wednesday night and the visiting Jaguars took a 90-74 decision away from the Vikings at Goodman Arena.
IUPUI (4-6) shot 61.2 percent (30-of-49) from the field, including 61.1 percent (11-of-18) from 3-point range, and 86.4 percent (19-of-22) from the line. Much of that offense was provided by senior Chris Sanders, who went 9-of-11 overall and 6-of-8 from 3-point range en route to a career- and game-high 28 points.
"They were red-hot shooting," said CSU Head Coach Rollie Massimino. "They took the ball to the basket and we just didn't defend."
Jermaine Robinson (Philadelphia, Pa./Simon Gratz) led the Vikings (4-6) with 18 points while Jerrod Calhoun (Cleveland, Ohio/Villa Angela-St. Joseph), making his first start of the year, and Jonathan Burge (Cleveland, Ohio/South) took career highs with 14 points apiece. In addition, Walt Chavis (Steelton, Pa./Highspire) picked up a career-high six steals and added eight assists.
For the Jaguars, Odell Bradley scored 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field.
The Vikings hit 49.2 percent (29-of-59) from the field and 69.2 percent (9-of-13) from the line.
IUPUI won the battle of the boards 29-24 as Antoine Lewis grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.
