Josh Zupancic

Josh Zupancic is in his third season serving as the topassistant coach to Ben Stehura at Cleveland State University. Hewas announced as an addition to the staff on August 11, 2010.

Zupancic was only the third two-time All-American in Stanfordwrestling history, earning the honor in his junior and seniorseasons.

In 2006-07, he went 37-12 at 157 pounds and placed seventh atthe NCAA Championships. He topped this performance in 2007-2008when he racked up 39 victories and knocked off three rankedopponents in consecutive matches en route to a sixth place finishat the NCAA Championships.

His career record at Stanford was 120-34, making him the thirdwinningest wrestler in program history when he graduated. Zupancicwas one of just five Cardinal grapplers to earn 100 careervictories, helped by his 47-5 record in dual meets.

The National Wrestling Coaches Association named him an AcademicAll-American in all four of his years as a student-athlete. In both2005-06 and 2006-07, he was named to the National Wrestling CoachesAssociation All-Academic Team as he pursued his degree in AmericanStudies. Stanford named him the team's Outstanding Scholar-AthleteAward winner after the 2006-07 campaign.

Prior to his outstanding career at Stanford, Zupancic was afour-time state finalist while attending perennial power WalshJesuit High School. As a junior in 2002, he won the statechampionship while helping Walsh to a second place finish in theOhio High School Athletic Association Division II StateChampionships. The year before, he finished as the state runner-upat 112 pounds, helping Walsh to another second place finish. He wasthe runner-up at 103 pounds while Walsh captured the Division IItitle in 2000.

Zupancic returns to Northeast Ohio after two years of coachingclub wrestling while a graduate student at Oklahoma. He also workedas a student-athlete career counselor at Oklahoma, and has sevenyears of experience as camp counselor and clinician at variouswrestling camps and clinics.
