Head coach Daniyal Robinson announced today the hiring of Mo Ba as the program’s Director of Player Development and Video Operations. Ba comes to CSU after working with three different basketball organizations at the Division I and professional level.
"I am thrilled to welcome Mo Ba to Cleveland State as our new Director of Player Development,” added Coach Robinson. “Having worked with him before, I know firsthand that Mo has the ability to develop meaningful relationships both on and off the court. The experience he brings, from both Iowa State and the NBA, coupled with his deep understanding of the game, make him an invaluable addition to our program. We're excited to see how he'll help our players reach their full potential."
Ba most recently worked for the Milwaukee Bucks and previously had stints at Iowa State University and the University of Houston.
With the Bucks, Ba served as the Video and Player Development Assistant during the 2023-24 season. In that role he was heavily involved in video breakdowns both in-game and post-game, creating highlight tapes to assist with scouting and team development throughout the season. He also assisted with conducting daily individual workouts for players as well as working in collaboration with the team’s G-League affiliate as needed.
Ba spent time at Iowa State as both a graduate assistant and as the Assistant Director of Player Development from 2021-23. While at ISU, he worked with Coach Robinson during Robinson’s final year as an Assistant Coach, resulting in a Sweet Sixteen appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Ba touched all areas of the Cyclones’ program throughout his tenure, assisting with recruiting, player development, scouting and social media content creation and much more. Previously, Ba spent time as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Houston, where the Cougars made it to the Final Four in his lone season.
Ba holds a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University in communications in 2017 and a master’s degree in sports and fitness administration from Houston in 2022.
