AKRON, Ohio – The Cleveland State volleyball team opened up play at the CSU Invitational presented by Comfort Inn Cleveland Downtown Thursday, dropping a 3-1 match at Akron.
Jazen DeBina paced the Viking offense with 13 kills, while
Sophie Skidmore added nine kills and
Bryn VanVleet chipped in seven.
Fiona Cooper and
Allison Salazar split setting duties on the night, Cooper finishing with 16 helpers and Salazar posting 18.
Vayda Delventhal recorded 13 digs for her seventh straight double-digit dig performance of the season.
As a team, the Vikings combined for 14.0 total blocks on the match, including nine from
Julia Jozefov and four from DeBina.
The Vikings will continue play at the CSU Invitational presented by Comfort Inn Cleveland Downtown tomorrow, hosting Valparaiso at 5:00 p.m. in the 2026 home opener.
