Zingaro Named #HLWBB Newcomer of the Year; Leonard & Maples Earn All-League Honors

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After finishing regular season play with a fifth straight 20+ win season, the Cleveland State women's basketball team was honored with multiple postseason accolades from the Horizon League, as Izabella Zingaro was named the Newcomer of the Year, while Colbi Maples and Jada Leonard were both named All-League.

In addition to Newcomer of the Year honors, Zingaro also earned a spot on the First Team, while Maples picked up First Team honors and Leonard was named to the All-Defensive Team.

IZABELLA ZINGARO | GR | NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR & FIRST TEAM
Zingaro picks up Newcomer of the Year honors after leading the league averaging 16.7 points per game, while shooting a league-best 60-percent from the field. In addition, Zingaro also ranks fourth averaging 7.2 rebounds per game, as the only #HLWBB player to rank in the top-five in both categories.

For the season, Zingaro has tallied ten 20-point performances and eight double-doubles, ranking second among league players in both categories.

Among all Division I players, Zingaro currently ranks ninth in field goal percentage (.606), sixth in free throws made (160) and top-50 in total points (518)

COLBI MAPLES | GR | FIRST TEAM
Maples earns All-League Honors after averaging 15.2 points, 2.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game on the season, ranking third among league players in scoring and top-20 in assists and steals.

So far this season, Maples has recorded nine 20-point performances, and tallied the 1,000th point of her Cleveland State career last month. During her time as a Viking, Maples has combined for 1,049 points, 211 assists and 105 steals, starting all 67 games she has played.

This marks the second time that Maples is earning all-league honors, after also picking up First Team accolades, Player of the Year honors and a spot on the All-Defensive Team during the 2023-24 campaign.

JADA LEONARD | R-JR | ALL-DEFENSIVE TEAM
Leonard was named to the All-Defensive Team after combining for 90 steals throughout regular season play, leading all Horizon League players and ranking 14th among Division I players. The 90 steals is just shy of earning Leonard a spot on the CSU Single-Season Top-10 List.

Leonard has recorded at least one steal in all but one game this season, including three or more on 16 occasions. Her nine steals that she notched against Akron in non-league play still stands as a single-game high among #HLWBB players this season.

Leonard is part of a Cleveland State defense that ranks second among league teams in opponent points per game (59.3) and total steals (301), while ranking fourth with a .376 opponent field goal percentage.
