Box Score CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State (2-8-1, 2-1-1) opened its three-game homestand with a 1-0 shutout of IU Indy (3-7-2, 1-3-0) on Thursday evening.
The opening half went scoreless despite both teams putting on a shooting display with IU Indy holding a 9-6 edge. The Vikings nearly had the games first goal in the eleventh minute, but it was called offsides.
Cleveland State obtained the first lead in the 64th minute when
Elise Boyd finished off a bad clearance to lead 1-0.
The Jaguars nearly equalized in the 84th minute as their shot from 35-yards hit the crossbar and was cleared out of danger.
The Green and White were outshot 20-12 in the game, while each team had two corner kicks.
Ryleigh Alcala and
Sidney Nicholas each had three shots with two on frame.
Hayleigh Lewis recorded her second shutout of the year after making seven saves.
The Green and White get back in action on Sunday against Horizon League newcomer, NIU, on Sunday at 1 p.m.
