INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Horizon League announced the men's and women's swimming and diving preseason polls on Thursday, with both teams picked third.
Oakland was picked to win the championship on the men's side with five first-place votes for 41 points. IU Indianapolis received a first-place vote for 41 points, placing second, while Cleveland State tied with Milwaukee for third with 30 points.
The women's side saw Oakland named the unanimous favorite with 49 points, Milwaukee in second with 41 points, and the Vikings third with 32 points.
Cleveland State is coming off a season in which both squads placed third at the championships.
Gracie Chelf leads the women's side as the senior will look to win her third straight 50-yard freestyle championship with school record times in both prelims and finals. Prelims were 22.85 and 22.78 in the evening.
The Vikings will start the season with a two-day competition on Friday and Saturday in Indianapolis against IU Indy, Green Bay, and Milwaukee.
