INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – On Tuesday, the Horizon League announced the Horizon League Scholar-Athletes of the Year. Cleveland State's
Jackson Nester from the men's swimming team, along with Lainey Higgins of the Milwaukee women's soccer team, were selected as the recipients.
Nester adds this honor to his growing list of accolades, which already includes: Ceceil N. Coleman Medal of Honor, Horizon League Winter Scholar-Athlete, and CSCAA Scholar Athlete.
Nester graduated in the Spring with Summa Cum Laude honors with a mechanical engineering technology degree and a minor in general business. The Blacksburg, Virginia, native accumulated a 3.86 GPA throughout his career and was a three-time Horizon League All-Academic honoree.
In the pool, Nester was a four-time Horizon League Champion in the 400-yard IM, setting a new school record in the event each year. He reached the podium nine times in his career and scored in every individual event at the #HLSD Championships.
