Lanpher Added To Cleveland State Women's Basketball Coaching Staff

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State women's basketball head coach Chris Kielsmeier has added Steve Lanpher to his coaching staff for the upcoming 2025-26 campaign, as Lanpher will serve as an assistant coach.

Lanpher brings 30 years of coaching experience to Cleveland State, including 23 years as a head coach and 13 years at the Division I level.

"We are thrilled to welcome Steve to our staff, his experience at a variety of levels will be a great addition to our program," Kielsmeier said. "Steve has a wealth of knowledge of the game and will be able to jump right into the mix as we continue summer workouts and help us push the Cleveland State women's basketball program forward."

Lanpher joins the Vikings following six years at Randolph College where he was the head coach of the Wildcats. During his tenure, Randolph recorded its most wins in a single-season, finishing with a 19-8 record during the 2022-23 campaign.

Prior to his time at Randolph, Lanpher was the head women's basketball coach at NJIT for six years, guiding the program to its most Division I wins in a season and a Great West Conference Championship.

Lanpher also has Division I experience as an associate head coach at UMass and Vermont, including a pair of America East Tournament Championships with the Catamounts.

In addition, Lanpher spent time as the head coach at Norwich University, where he led his teams to more than 90 wins during a four-year stretch.

Lanpher also had stops at The Combine Academy, Lamar, Pratt Community College and Dean College.

Throughout his coaching tenure, Lanpher has recruited 30+ all-league players and seven major award winners, while he is a multi-time coach of the year honoree.
