YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Cleveland State track & field team opened up action at the 2025 Horizon League Outdoor Championship Friday, recording three podium finishes on the first day of competition.
"Overall I'm very pleased with our performances today, we had opportunities to score and to come out with two more points than we had on day one last year is great," head coach
Jason Hudson said. "Natalie and Grace both had great podium finishes today, while Lily was just shy of earning a podium finish after just learning how to throw the javelin. I'm looking forward to how Madison and Zuriah finish in the Heptathlon, and getting started in all of our other events tomorrow."
Grace Frye paced the Vikings with two podium finishes, placing second in the Javelin with a program-record throw of 42.34, and fourth in the Discus (40.13).
In the only other final of the day,
Natalie Keller earned a podium finish in the 10,000 Meter Run, placing sixth overall with a program-record time of 36:43.04.
In addition,
Madison Luthy and
Zuriah Radeff-Koonce are currently competing in the Heptathlon, with Luthy sitting seventh after four events and Radeff-Koonce ranking ninth. Luthy's top finish during the first day came in the High Jump, placing fourth with a mark of 1.58. Radeff-Koonce's top finish was also a fourth place showing, coming in the Shot Put with a mark of 10.67.
