Cleveland, OH-The numbers are in and it was another outstanding semester in the classroom for Cleveland State student-athletes. The department registered a 3.46 semester GPA across its 19Â varsity sport programs and finished with a 3.48 cumulative GPA to close out the 2024-25 school year.

This marks the 38
th consecutive semester that Cleveland State student-athletes have finished with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. It is also the 13
th straight semester of a GPA of 3.3 or higher dating back to the 2018-19 academic year.

On the men's side, three teams finished with a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher with men's lacrosse taking the top spot with a 3.58 semester GPA. Men's golf finished with a 3.56 and men's soccer posted a 3.51 GPA this spring.

On the women's side, seven women's programs finished with a 3.6 cumulative GPA or higher. Women's cross country registered the highest GPA of any team in the department finishing with a 3.81 semester GPA. Women's tennis was close behind with a 3.79 GPA and women's basketball posted a 3.72.

Individually, 197 student-athletes were named to the Dean's List. 40 student-athletes earned President's List recognition and 65 student-athletes finished with a perfect 4.0 semester GPA.

Student-athletes must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours and finish with a semester GPA of 3.25 or higher to earn Dean's List qualification. Those who finish with a 3.9 semester GPA or higher with a minimum of 15 hours earn President's List recognition.

The department honored over 70 total student-athletes who earned their bachelor's and master's degrees as part of the University's commencement ceremonies earlier this month. Two student-athletes were named as Valedictorians. Chloe Amoroso of women's track and field was named as the Washkewicz College of Engineering Valedictorian after finishing with a 4.0 GPA and graduating with Summa Cum Laude honors. Jose Valdez-Saldana of the esports team earned the Monte Ahuja College of Business Valedictorian recognition after finishing with a 3.98 GPA and graduating with Summa Cum Laude honors. 43 total student-athletes graduated with honors.
