Cleveland, OH-The Cleveland State softball team is set to welcome Detroit Mercy for a three-game Horizon League series starting Thursday afternoon. The Vikings and Titans will play a single game tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. with a doubleheader scheduled for Friday starting at 1:00 p.m.

Cleveland State is 7-2 in Horizon League play and tied for first in the standings with Northern Kentucky and Robert Morris. The Vikings have won all three Horizon League series to start the conference schedule. Detroit Mercy is 2-4 in league play.

Emma Gilkerson leads the Cleveland State offensive attack after a big weekend at the plate last weekend at NKU. Gilkerson finished 6-for-8 with four home runs in helping the Vikings take two of three from the Norse. Cleveland State leads the Horizon League with 18 home runs through the first nine games of league play.

Melissa Holzopfel leads the pitching staff into this weekend's action. Holzopfel is 6-1 in league play and carries a 1.94 ERA into Thursday's game. Holzopfel has struck out 49 total batters in league games against just 12 walks.
