CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team opened up Horizon League play Saturday, picking up a 7-0 victory over Northern Kentucky.
The Vikings picked up the early doubles point, with
Lincoln Battle and
Devin Boyer earning a 6-2 win at the top of the lineup and
Carl Gedlitschka and
Cole Chappell posting a 6-1 win at the No. 2 spot.
Cleveland State then added to its lead with a quick 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles from Chappell, while Gedlitschka put the score at 3-0 Vikings with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at the No. 2 spot.
Saturday's clinching point came from
Maxime Aremon then, as he picked up a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 5 singles. Boyer (6-3, 6-2) and Battle (7-5, 6-4) added points at No. 6 and No. 1 singles, respectively, while
Nico Jamison posted the final point of the day with a 6-3, 6-3 win at the No. 4 spot.
The Vikings will be back in action tomorrow, hosting IU Indy at 2:00 p.m. inside the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.
