MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Cleveland State track & field team closed out action at the Myrtle Beach Challenge Saturday, posting 10 individual top-10 finishes, including one event win.
"This was a great way to open our outdoor campaign, and we had a great showing in our first event of the outdoor season," head coach
Jason Hudson said. "We had multiple personal records this weekend, along with a program record from Madison in the long jump. This is a great way to start off our outdoor season and I'm very excited to see how things progress once we have the full team in action."
Grace Frye recorded Cleveland State's first event win of the outdoor campaign on Saturday, placing first in the Shot Put with a mark of 13.08. In addition, Frye also placed fifth in the Discus with a mark of 40.73.
Cleveland State recorded a pair of runner-up finishes in sprint events on Saturday, as
Trinity Lamp placed second in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 14.39 and
Olivia Todd posted a time of 1:03.97 in the 400 Hurdles to also finish second.
Ana Crangle once again paced the Vikings in distance events, recording a fourth place finish in the 1500 Meter Run with a time of 4:49.82. In addition,
Madelynn Madison placed sixth in the 800 Meter Run, posting a time of 2:22.48.
The Vikings will continue their outdoor campaign in two weeks, taking part in the Cedarville Invite on Saturday, March 29.
