JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Cleveland State men's tennis team opened up its annual Spring Break trip Tuesday afternoon, dropping a 5-2 match at North Florida.
"This was a good tough tennis match, there was a moment where we could have turned it when we had two second set breakers going and also had two courts go to the third set at the same time, but North Florida was tough in the big moments," head coach
Brian Etzkin said. "We played some good doubles today, and Nico who has been playing some good tennis but not getting the W, put one in the books today and I was so happy for him. We will be tougher because of this match and we will keep battling!"
The Vikings picked up the early doubles point, earning a 6-1 win from
Carl Gedlitschka/
Cole Chappell at No. 2 doubles and a 6-3 victory from
Nico Jamison/
Maxime Aremon at the No. 3 spot.
Cleveland State's lone singles win came from Jamison at the No. 3 spot, as he posted a 7-5, 6-4 victory on the day.
The Vikings will wrap up their trip down south on Friday, March 14, facing Stetson at 12:00 p.m.
