Box Score Leesburg, FL-The Cleveland State softball team dropped its final game of the opening weekend at The Spring Games, falling to Louisville by a 22-2 final score. Cleveland State is 1-4 on the season after the five-game tournament.
Louisville struck early and often with a relentless offensive attack that included 15 hits, with seven going for extra bases, and seven walks. The Cardinals scored six runs in the first inning, nine in the second and seven in the third.
Cleveland State scored its two runs in the second inning on the strength of two home runs.
Emma Gilkerson and
Sophie Spellman each hit solo shots, with both picking up their first home runs of the season. Cleveland State totaled five hits in the game.
Cleveland State continues its trip through the State of Florida with a game against Seminole State scheduled for Wednesday.
