CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's basketball team closed out the week by picking up its 20
th win of the 2024-25 season Saturday, earning a 79-58 victory over Oakland. With the win, the Vikings are now 20-5 overall this year and 11-3 in #HLWBB play.

The Game
Following a back-and-forth first quarter that saw Cleveland State hold an 18-14 advantage after 10 minutes of play, the Vikings were able to extend their lead to double-digits midway through the second quarter on back-to-back
Destiny Leo three-pointers that put the score at 31-20 with 5:24 left to play.
Although Oakland was able to trim the lead to single-digits over the next few possessions, the Vikings took a 12-point lead into the halftime break after a 3-for-3 effort from Leo at the free throw line to put the score at 38-26 following two quarters of play.
The Vikings then opened the third quarter on a 10-2 run, growing their lead to 20 points at 48-28 following a pair of
Grace Ellis free throws. Cleveland State went on to hold a sizeable lead throughout the rest of the frame, taking a 60-40 advantage into the final 10 minutes of play.
A Guerreiro jumper opened the scoring for the Vikings during the final quarter, while a 7-2 run from CSU midway through the frame put Cleveland State on top 69-46 at the 6:48 mark.
The Vikings controlled play throughout the rest of the contest then, including extending its lead to 76-51 on a
Filippa Goula layup, marking the largest lead of the contest for CSU at 76-51, before going on to close out the frame with the 79-58 victory.
