ASHLAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State track & field team competed in their final tune-up before the #HLTF Indoor Championships Saturday, putting up a great showing at the Ashland Last Chance Meet.
"This was a great way to tune up for the conference meet, with a lot of season-best and personal-best marks. I'm excited to see how we will perform next week, and I firmly believe that we will out perform our results from last year," head coach
Jason Hudson said.
On the day, four program records were broken in the Long Jump, Weight Throw, Triple Jump, and 400 Meter Dash.
Madison Luthy recorded the program record in the Long Jump, winning the event on Saturday with a mark of 5.37.
Grace Frye posted a mark of 17.01 to finish fourth in the Weight Throw with a program-record performance, while
Tilly Nasende set the program record in the 400 with a time of 57.80 which placed her second overall. The final program record came from
Chloe Amoroso in the Triple Jump, as she finished second with a mark of 11.27.
In addition to the three performances above, the Vikings had 10 other top-five individual finishes on the day.
In field events,
Natalie Pleban placed third in the Long Jump (5.27) and fourth in the High Jump (1.56).
The Vikings had five advance to the finals of the 60 Meter Hurdles, paced by
Trinity Lamp who finished third with a time of 8.95. In addition,
Emma Sanders earned a spot in the 60 Meter Dash finals, placing sixth overall with a time of 8.03.
Along with her second place finish in the 400, Nasende also posted a fifth place finish in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 25.65.
In distance events,
Deena Ingrassia posted Cleveland State's highest finish, posting at time of 2:20.87 to place second in the 800 Meter Run. In addition,
Tara Will placed fifth in the same event (2:23.84), while
Ana Crangle placed third in the Mile (5:07.64).
Cleveland State will be back in action on Day One of the Horizon League Indoor Championships on Saturday, March 1.
