CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's basketball team hosted its annual Health+Hoops game Tuesday, with the Vikings picking up a 74-56 victory over Northern Kentucky. With the win, the Vikings are now 10-2 on the year and 2-1 in Horizon League play.

The Game
Cleveland State was able to jump out to a quick lead at the start of the contest, as a 12-5 run over the opening minutes of the game gave the Vikings a seven-point lead on an
Izabella Zingaro layup. The Vikings then extended their lead to double-digits a few plays later on a
Laurel Rockwood basket, before taking a 27-15 lead into the second quarter.
A
Jada Leonard three-pointer to open the second frame put the Vikings up 30-15, while Cleveland State was able to hold a double-digit lead for the majority of the quarter, including a 42-31 edge at the halftime break.
Although Northern Kentucky was able to hold a 13-11 edge during the third quarter, the Vikings were able to maintain their lead, taking a 53-44 advantage into the final 10 minutes of play.
The two teams then traded three-pointers to open the fourth quarter – with Cleveland State's coming from
Colbi Maples – while a Zingaro layup regained a 10-point lead for the Vikings at 58-48 with 7:37 left on the clock.
After trading baskets over the next few possessions, another Maples three-pointer gave the Vikings a 66-54 edge – a double-digit lead that they would go on to hold for the remainder of the contest.
The Vikings posted an 8-2 run over the final 2:40 then, pulling away with the 74-56 victory.
