CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State volleyball team continued its current five-match homestand Tuesday, picking up a 3-1 victory over Oakland.
A trio of Vikings finished the match with double-digit kills, including
Laken Voss with a team-high 17.
Chloe List added 14 kills and
Julia Jozefov chipped in 12.
Isabella Gibbons recorded 30 assists on the night along with 10 digs for a double-double.
Vayda Delventhal posted a team-best 25 digs, while Voss added eight for the Viking defense.
As a team, the Vikings finished with 8.0 total blocks, including six from
JeriLynn Koehler.
After dropping the first set, the Vikings rebounded during the second frame, picking up a 25-22 victory to even the match at 1-1.
Cleveland State carried its momentum into the third set then, gaining a 17-10 lead midway through the frame on a pair of Oakland errors. The Vikings then held their advantage throughout the rest of the frame, gaining set point on a
Chloe List kill, before closing out the 25-18 victory with another List kill.
The Vikings once again gained a sizeable advantage midway through the fourth set, as another pair of Oakland errors put Cleveland State up 19-13. Although the Grizzlies were able to work their way back into the set a few points later, a
Julia Jozefov and
Isabella Gibbons block put the score at 24-22, before a List service ace put away the set at 25-22.
Cleveland State will close out its current homestand against IU Indy this weekend, beginning with a 6:00 p.m. contest on Friday, October 31.
