ERIE, Pa. – Cleveland State (5-2-6) wrapped up non-league play with a 2-2 draw at Mercyhurst (1-8-4) on Tuesday evening. With the tie, the Vikings extended their unbeaten streak to ten and have three Horizon League games remaining.
Neither team scored in the opening half, despite the Green and White having a 4-3 advantage in shots.
The Vikings opened the scoring in the 56th minute on
Uros Jevtic's first career goal as the senior captain headed in a free kick by
Fefo Granados.
Mercyhurst equalized in the 72nd minute on a slow dribbler and then claimed its first lead three minutes later on a perfect free kick to the far post.
Cleveland State retied the game in the 79th minute on an absolute rocket from
Ognjen Bozovic off a restart from Daniel Ceslo.
Matteo Correia came off the bench with a game-best four shots, including two on frame.
Aleksandar Kolar made his collegiate debut in goal and had three saves.
The Vikings return home to host Purdue Fort Wayne for Senior Night on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m.
