CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State (4-5-7, 1-2-6) blanked Purdue Fort Wayne (1-14-1, 0-8-0) 2-0 in the home finale on a rainy and windy Sunday afternoon on Krenzler Field.
The first half went scoreless, with the Vikings holding an 8-2 edge in shots.
Cleveland State broke through in the 55th minute as
Tanji Sarver finished off a cross from
Jordan Novak, following a free kick by
Maria Bashardoust.
The margin was doubled eleven minutes later on a
Cortlyn Hefty goal off a through ball from
Mayra Sesmas.
The Vikings held a 20-9 advantage in shots and an 8-3 edge in shots on goal.
Sarver led the game with six shots, with one on target, while Hefty had five shots, including four on frame.
Hayleigh Lewis notched the shutout after making three saves.
Cleveland State has one game remaining in the regular season at Green Bay on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 2 p.m.
