Cleveland State Student-Athletes Cap Outstanding Fall Semester in the Classroom

Cleveland, OH - It was another outstanding semester academically for Cleveland State student-athletes. The department finished with a semester GPA of 3.47 across 365-plus student-athletes in 19 sport programs. The department's cumulative GPA sits at a 3.47.

"I am incredibly proud of our student-athletes for their efforts in the classroom this semester," said Director of Athletics Kelsie Gory Harkey. "They exemplify a scholar athlete, dedicating their time and energy to being champions in the classroom, in the community and through competition. I also want to thank our academic services staff that work every day to support our student-athletes as students and people to help them achieve their goals. Our coaches prioritize recruiting student-athletes that are passionate about both their studies and their sport and that is evident in the high marks we celebrate this semester."

On the men's side, lacrosse posted the top GPA with a 3.60. Four men's programs finished with a semester GPA of 3.4 or higher. Men's basketball posted its highest GPA in the Daniyal Robinson era and one of the highest ever in program history finishing with a 3.47. Wrestling posted a 3.43 and men's soccer finished with a 3.41 semester GPA.

In addition, over 250 student-athletes earned individual academic honors from Cleveland State University. 207 student-athletes were named to the Dean's List, 43 more earned President's List recognition and 55 finished with a perfect 4.0 semester GPA.

Any student finishing with a semester GPA of 3.25 or higher while taking at least 12 credits earns a spot on the Dean's List. Students with a 3.9 semester GPA or higher with at least 15 credits earn President's List honors.

The department also celebrated nine student-athletes who earned their degrees following the fall semester. Women's soccer's Brooke Brockman was named Valedictorian of the Levin College of Public Affairs and Education. Brockman is the third Cleveland State student-athlete to earn valedictorian honors in the 2024 calendar year after her teammate Kierstin Clarke and softball's Jenna Deang were named to the honor this past spring.
