CHAPEL HILL, NC – The Cleveland State volleyball team got the 2024 season started Friday evening, dropping a 3-0 contest at North Carolina. Friday's match was the first of three at the Carolina Classic for the Vikings.
Cleveland State will continue play at the three-day tournament tomorrow, facing Western Carolina, while the Vikings will close out the weekend against College of Charleston on Sunday.
Liberty Torres paced the Viking offense in the season opener, finishing with nine kills, while Nia Hall and Julia Jozefov both finished with four kills – Jozefov making her collegiate debut.
Ella Mihacevich made her CSU debut on Friday, finishing with 20 assists, six digs and two blocks against North Carolina.
The Viking defense was led by libero Emma Walker who finished with 17 digs, while Hall added six digs.
Allana Appleby made her collegiate debut against the Tarheels, leading the Vikings with four blocks on the night.
In addition, Vayda Delventhal and Chloe List both made their collegiate debuts.
