CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's basketball team picked up its second #HLWBB victory of the season Saturday, earning an 82-49 victory over IU Indy. With the win, the Vikings are now 7-2 overall and 2-0 in #HLWBB play.

The Game
Cleveland State opened the game with four straight three-pointers – one from
Mickayla Perdue and three from
Destiny Leo – earning a 12-0 advantage less than three minutes into the contest. Although IU Indy was able to stop the CSU scoring run on its next possession, the Vikings answered with back-to-back baskets from
Filippa Goula and Perdue, extending their lead to 17-4 midway through the frame.
A
Paulina Hernandez jumper in the final seconds of the opening quarter sent the Vikings into the second frame with a 22-14 lead, while another Leo three-pointer extended the CSU lead to 25-14 to begin the second quarter. Although IU Indy was able to trim the lead to single-digits midway through the frame, the Vikings responded with an 8-2 run to close the frame, taking a 39-25 lead into the halftime break.
The Vikings carried their momentum into the third quarter, opening the frame on a 6-2 run, gaining a 45-27 lead on a
Macey Fegan layup at the 8:30 mark. Three minutes later, another Fegan basket put the Vikings up by 20 points at 50-30, before Cleveland State was able to close out the frame on a 20-7 run, taking a 70-37 lead into the final 10 minutes of action.
Cleveland State was then able to hold its advantage throughout the final quarter, coming away with the convincing 82-49 victory.
